Car covers of right and wrong size
The below pictures do show two SUVs, one fitted with a car cover of the right size, and another of the wrong one.

In the first case, the cover fits perfectly the SUV and its strap holds it well against the car body, two mandatory conditions to make sure the cover won't go away with the first breeze or worse, gale.
In the second case, a rope had to be used for making sure the car cover does not leave the vehicle under light or strong winds. The efficiency of the cover is still there, but it's aesthetically catastrophic, while removing it requires unravelling the rope, which is indeed not practical on vehicles that are frequently used.

How to select the cover of the right size for your vehicle
Proceed as follows:
- Chose an SUV cover if your vehicle is an SUV or a Crossover,
- Select a car cover if your vehicle is a hatch or a sedan,
- Check the length of the cover: it should match the one of your car + a maximum of 1 inch,
- Check the height, which should match the one of your vehicle + or - 2 to 3 inches.
- Covers for small cars are always designed for hatchbacks. You won't easily find a cover that fits small sedans.
- Covers for large cars are always designed for sedans. You won't easily find a large car cover for station wagons or large hatches.
